Base to boost Mabul’s security

SEMPORNA: A Forward Operating Base (FOB) will be set up by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) in Mabul Island to further boost security in the district’s waters. 

 Esscom Chief Executive Officer Dr Jamaluddin Mohd Ali said the project involves an allocation of RM41 million and shows the government’s continuous efforts in providing complete and conducive logistics in order to support security forces operations. 

 He said the pilot project which will act as a tactical base in controlling and monitoring the level of security in the districts’ waters, especially in Mabul Island and its surrounding areas.

 “The project is scheduled to complete within 36 months from the ground breaking ceremony on Jan 4 and will be handed over to Esscom no later than early January 2024,” he said during the ground breaking ceremony, here, Monday.
