Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy), Arthur Joseph Kurup (pic) said some current indicators have started to show good economic performance.He said, among others are, the first the retail sector began to show a gradual recovery with the number of visitors at most major shopping malls increasing between 35 per cent to 60 per cent and sales revenue also increased 50 per cent to 60 per cent after the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented targeted with improvements Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). “Secondly, hotel accommodation rates nationwide increased to 24.3 per cent for the period 29 November 2020 until 5 December 2020 after the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) was terminated and cross-state activities were allowed (8 November to 14 November: 18.7 per cent).

“Thirdly, the price of crude palm oil has again reached a level above RM3,000 per tonne in November 2020, which is RM3,422 per tonne compared to the lowest level of RM2,074 per tonne in May 2020.
