PENAMPANG: Slow progress of the bridge construction for the Pan Borneo Highway project just downstream of Monsopiad Cultural Village has been blamed for the higher level and slow receding of waters in the district and Donggongon township.

An engineer involved in hydro-electric projects said:

“It’s common sense. First the riverbanks are constricted due temporary earth fill at the banks and also installation of sheet piles.

“Then its made worse by all kinds of wood and bamboo debris building up a dam underneath a temporary steel bridge with seven columns spread across the width of the river.”
