Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has expressed interest in Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
The Serb has been linked with Manchester United in recent days.
But Corriere dello Sport says Liverpool have approached the agent of Milenkovic to discuss a potential move for the Fiorentina defender during this summer's transfer window.
The centre-back's contract with La Viola is due to expire in June 2022, and it is widely thought that he will be allowed to leave the Italian club in the upcoming market for a fee in the region of £30m.
Liverpool's old foes United have been linked with a summer swoop for the 23-year-old who has been likened to his compatriot and former Old Trafford favourite Nemanja Vidic.
However, there is also interest from Anfield with Klopp's side holding talks with the player's agent.
