Manchester City are doing everything in their power to gain an advantage over their rivals.
One of the steps the club has taken in recent weeks is to hire a literal rocket scientist in Laurie Shaw.
Former astrophysicist and Treasury policy adviser Shaw is a "lead artificial scientist" at City, per the Daily Mail.
There are three similar appointments at City in this area, and the goal is to improve how player performance is tracked over the course of a season and a player's career.
The City Football Group is also partnering with Google and other companies as they aim to experiment with technology to move ahead of their rivals on the pitch.
These appointments are not only for Man City, but for the ten clubs across the City Football Group.
