K’batangan shop block razed

KINABATANGAN: A block consisting of 12 lots of various shops and a Perodua Kancil were destroyed in a fire early Monday.

District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nurul Azlan Jamaluddin said the department received an emergency call at 12.54am via MERS 999.

He said 15 personnel led by Senior Officer Hairul Jamal were deployed to the scene some 56km away together with a fire rescue tender and other utility vehicles.

“The operation was carried out using a closed water source. No injuries and deaths were reported,” he said, adding the cause and estimated losses were under investigation.
