Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag admits he turned down Tottenham this week.

Ten Hag opted to sign a new deal with the Dutch champions elect on Friday.

The Dutchman was top of Tottenham's shortlist to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho.

They held talks via zoom this week before the Dutchman met with Ajax officials on Thursday and they activated an option to secure him until 2023.

Ten Hag said: "I don't want to rule out that that [Spurs] could have happened, but I know what I have here."

His previous deal was due to expire in 2022, reducing the expense that would have been involved in appointing him before he committed his future to Ajax.
