Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has urged Jurgen Klopp not to sign Ibrahima Konate.

The Reds have reportedly agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to bring Konate to Anfield.

However, Enrique believes the form of Nat Phillips should encourage Klopp to use his money to improve other areas of his squad.

In his response to an Instagram post which reported the news of Liverpool's bid to sign Konate and their decision to not press ahead with a permanent deal for Ozan Kabak, Enrique wrote: "For me we should not buy either of them and keep Phillips as a fourth option.

"If we are going to sell Matip then [it] is fair but if not I don't understand. We need [to strengthen] other positions."
