Manchester United are set to drop their plans for Atletico Madrid fullback Kieran Trippier.

The England international has been a top target for United this summer, with talks running for months between the two clubs.

However, AS says United have pulled back this week with Atletico insisting Trippier will only leave for his €60m buyout clause.

For his part, Trippier is disappointed with the situation as he had counted on returning to the Northwest for the new season.

The defender started Atletico's victorious opening LaLiga clash with Celta Vigo on the weekend.
