Burnley boss Sean Dyche has laughed off questions about new signings before the summer market closes.

Ahead of Saturday's clash with Liverpool, Dyche was asked about adding to his squad.

He replied: "We were close to Messi. We were disappointed we lost that one and he referenced he'd love to have come here. Ronaldo is apparently sniffing but apart from that we'll see what options come available to us. Lewandowski didn't say he was coming to us, the other two did."

On going to Liverpool, he added: "It is very tough going to these places and winning games, last season they had some injuries and we maybe caught them at a slower period and earned the right to win a game."
