Benfica fullback Alex Grimaldo is a target for Manchester City.

The former Barcelona B defender has long been on the shopping list of City football chief Txiki Begiristain.

Portuguese transfer expert Pedro Almeida reports Manchester City have begun negotiations with Benfica for the left-back.

However, he states that Benfica's €30m price for Grimaldo is deemed too rich by City. The 25-year-old's contract expires in the summer of 2023.

Benfica acquired Grimaldo from Barcelona in January 2016.
