Benfica could yet make a move for free agent David Luiz.

O Jogo says Benfica's board rejected coach Jorge Jesus' request to sign the former Arsenal defender, instead taking fullback Valentino Lazaro on-loan from Inter Milan yesterday.

Jorge Jesus still wants a new centre-half addition and is pushing football chief Rui Costa to deliver on Luiz.

With the Brazilian still available, Benfica can bring the veteran back to the club outside the transfer window.

Rui Costa's concern, however, is Luiz's contract demands.
