Arsenal chiefs priced Eddie Nketiah out of a move away last week, it has been revealed.
The Mirror says Arsenal are facing the prospect of losing Nketiah for nothing after failing to negotiate an exit for the striker.
Nketiah has struggled for opportunities under Mikel Arteta and was one of a number of first-teamers made available to sell.
However, with the Gunners demanding £20million for the academy graduate, they struggled to find a suitor during the summer window.
Crystal Palace were interested in signing Nketiah according to the Sun, but failed to stump up the cash for the 22-year-old.
By the end of the window, Arsenal were willing to accept £12m, but with add-ons, a sell-on fee and a buy-back option all part of negotiations, there were no takers.
Palace decided to spend their money elsewhere, signing Odsonne Edouard from Celtic in a deal that could reach £18.5m.
And now it looks increasingly likely that Nketiah will leave Arsenal on a free next summer, with his contract in north London set to wind down.
