Leeds United chief Victor Orta has explained selling Pontus Jansson to Brentford.
Orta sold Jansson and replaced him with then Brighton defender Ben White, now of Arsenal.
He said: “I remember the first action of Ben White in Bristol. We are making distribution of the ball and he arrived the ball with his top-quality technical, like a central defender, and make a heavy touch.
“Famara Diedhiou is there and there was a question of one second, he chip the ball, make a diagonal, Jack Harrison cross, near to score Patrick Bamford and 5,000 fans of Leeds United start to clap him.
“Then in this moment he feels like he is the best central defender of the league and he was that year, but I am not stupid.
“In this moment, Famara Diedhiou touched the ball and perhaps he [White] make a tackle, red card, Famara scores, we lose 1-0 or he make a penalty, red card and we lose 1-0.
“Then all the social media starts to say, 'Ben White, what a horrible decision, Pontus is the best and he's playing for Brentford.'"
He later added: “We need to know, at the end, this is a game and they are talking about predictions. For me, when you take a decision you need to analyse the past, don't try to predict the future."
