Former Watford manager Xisco Munoz has thanked the players and supporters after his sacking.

Munoz was responsible for getting the Hornets back into the Premier League.

However, the club have made a poor start to the season, with Munoz lasting only seven games into this season.

Munoz posted on Instagram following his sacking.

"THANK YOU, WATFORD," his post read.

"It has been a wonderful trip, which I did not expect or wish that it would end so soon or in this way, but of which I will only remember everything I experienced.

"It is a sad day for me and my family because a stage in a club and in a city where we have felt at home ends.

"I can only have words of gratitude for the Club that gave me the opportunity to start my first stage in this exciting country. Heartfelt thanks to the players for having blind faith and believing in me and my staff from the beginning so that together we could achieve the dream of promotion to the Premier League.

"And thanks to all the Club workers who do not appear in the photos, because the operation of this equipment is essential. You have made my life very easy.

"Finally, I want to have a special mention for the fans. It has been just a year of relationship, but the intensity of this year and the treatment that you have always given me I will never be able to forget. I will always be one more Watford FC fan. Thanks for everything."
