Manchester United captain Harry Maguire put out a statement praising departed boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former player is now also a former manager of the club, having left his post on Sunday following a 4-1 Premier League humiliation against Watford away from home on Saturday.

Maguire, who was sent off in the second half with United 2-1 down in the game, said he will be forever grateful to "legend" Solskjaer for signing him.

He tweeted on Sunday: "You signed me for the best club in the world and gave me the biggest honour in football.

"Huge respect and forever grateful.

"Thank you for everything boss. Legend."
