Former Leeds United striker Robbie Fowler has questioned whether the players are burned out by manager Marcelo Bielsa's methods.
Writing in his column in the Sunday Mirror, the former Whites striker questioned the relentless level that Bielsa demands of his players.
"I've always wondered if Marcelo Bielsa's intensity would eventually prove too much for their players, and we'd see a little bit of what people casually label as 'burnout'," said Fowler.
"I don't believe that as such, and I don't think the Leeds players have downed tools either. But what I do think, is that a bit of fatigue sets in mentally, as much as anything.
"When training is as intense as that, day in day out for months and years, then the players will be weary of it, they will question whether they can do the same thing every single day.
"It's clear Bielsa has a shelf life at a club. If his methods start to stall, he moves on."
