Former Newcastle United chairman Sir John Hall has offered advice to the new owners.

Hall urges patience and insists a rebuild will take time. Five years, to be precise.

He told talkSPORT: “The new owners are coming in and they've never had experience of running a football club before – it's not easy.

“You can't just walk into a football club. We've got to give them time. It cannot be done overnight.

“You're going to make mistake, I did when I took over the club, the main thing is you learn from them and move forward."

He added: “It will take five years to build a team, I think we all expect that. You've got to get success to bring the players. Top players won't come unless you're successful, why should they?

“If Eddie (Howe) knows the players he wants, like Keegan, that will make a big difference.

“There's no point being negative, we've got to get out there and be positive. That's everybody – the board, the supporters, and the team."
