Newcastle United have been urged to avoid signing Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial.

Martial is a loan target for Newcastle.

But Cascarino told talkSPORT: "Anthony at his best, yes. Anthony at his worst, no. I think there's a real talent in there that shows what he can do at times. I just don't think he has the consistency to be a worthwhile player for Newcastle during the second part of the season.

"Kieran Trippier is a great offensive footballer, he's got a wonderful right foot, he really has," he said on the Reds target. "You can even switch him on the left, you can play him either side so I would see that as a versatile full-back that you can utilise and if you can bring someone of that stature and his experience. I thought he was unlucky at the Euros, he didn't do anything wrong.

"There's been times at Atletico where he's shown, he would've learned a lot playing abroad and being a better player so I absolutely could give that a thumbs up [a move to Newcastle]."
