Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey admits his pass wasn't good enough as it led to Mohamed Salah scoring in defeat at Liverpool.
Shelvey, under pressure from Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara, played a no-look back pass which sent Sadio Mane clean through and, although Martin Dubravka made the initial save, Salah was there to knock in the rebound
Shelvey fronted up and apologised to supporters after the game for what he called a 'terrible' pass and a 'stupid' goal to concede, and the 29-year-old is keen to put it right against Man City on Sunday after his goal ultimately counted for nothing.
"It's the things you dream of the night before the game but, at the end of the day, that's irrelevant because we've lost the game," he told NUFC TV about his opener.
"I'll be thinking more about the pass than I will the goal to be honest with you and it's something I've got to make up to my team-mates, the gaffer and our fans."
