It’s not unusual to get a gift for yourself or your loved ones for CNY, but some stuff is more fabulous and captivating than others, like fashionably cropped Cheongsam and shoes inspired by mahjong tiles.
Check out these 6 glamorous, auspicious, and atypical products that launched in the Year of the Tiger 2022.
1) Barbie Lunar New Year Doll
Who embodies fabulous best besides the queen herself, Barbie? Mattel, the parent company of Barbara Millicent Roberts (that is her full name, by the way) launched a Lunar New Year Barbie doll in partnership with Chinese celebrity fashion designer Guo Pei.
The doll features Guo’s signature embroidery detailing, with intricate designs of golden phoenixes and water and wave motifs that traditionally appear on the attire worn by Chinese royalty, Mattel said.
2) Behati CNY collection
Not your typical CNY clothing, Malaysian fashion brand Behati pushes the envelope for the local clothing scene with its “Tang Suit” for men, and Cheongsam crop set for women, among others.
3) Li Ning
Chinese sports retailer Li-Ning launched a green and cream pair of shoes packaged in a box that resembles mahjong tiles. Now sports fans can play mahjong and look the part too.
4) Gucci Tiger
Join the Gucci gang. Luxury fashion house Gucci launched its Gucci Tiger collection in time for Chinese New Year. Gucci Tiger features a selection of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories like T-shirts, purses in lovely pastel florals, and tiger-themed sweaters.
5) MAC Lunar Luck
Makeup brand MAC has launched lipsticks, an eyeshadow palette, and a highlighter with opulent Chinese New Year packaging that features a tiger surrounded by peonies in shades of pink and fuchsia.
6) BloomThis Chinese New Year Flower Box
Chinese New Year isn’t complete with some blooms, like the first ad on this list of CNY short films would indicate. The Endless Luck flower box by local florist BloomThis has a mix of hydrangeas and carnations in prosperous colors like red and purple.
