Kota Kinabalu: A bird nest agent wanted for allegedly killing a man outside a Penampang entertainment outlet three weeks ago and later arrested in Limbang, Sarawak has been charged with murder.

Kaw Yung Chee, 35, who was brought to the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex in a police van at 8.38am, appeared before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles today.

Kaw was accused of murdering Jusmani Duragan, 30, at 3.26am on Jan 4, this year outside the Maple Karaoke Lounge.

No plea was recorded from Kaw after the charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty, was read out to him.

Lovely set Feb 28 for mention of the case and ordered Kaw to be further remanded as the charge against him has no provisions for bail.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik prosecuted while Amli Nohin was Kaw's counsel in the proceeding.
