
SEMPORNA: Nine people, including five children, survived a boat sinking incident in front of the Semporna Tourism Jetty, around 9.50am, Tuesday.
Semporna Over-water Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Faisal Ahmad said five officers and personnel with a Kevlar rescue boat were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 9.59am.
According to him, the nine - two men, two women and five children, including three boys - were rescued (pic).
“No injuries or deaths were reported and the team ended the operation at 10.39am.
“The boat in which the victims were riding was said to be on its way to Kg Bangau-Bangau before it sank in front of the Semporna Tourism Jetty,” he said.
