There’s good news for everyone who was absolutely horrified by the Chinese New Year pagoda in KLCC.

The Kuala Lumpur mall’s management has repainted and redecorated the outdoor pagoda after it received criticism for the CNY decor.

Photos online showed that the roof of the pagoda had been repainted from green to yellow. The mall also added more red lanterns all around the structure in an effort to brighten it up. According to a sign on the pagoda, the structure is still a work in progress.

Previously, critics on social media made fun of the 21-meter pagoda, saying it looked like paper offerings one would burn for their ancestors during the Qing Ming festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, which is a celebration to honor loved ones who have passed on.

Also, the festive display inside Suria KLCC is pretty neat, just like the decorations at malls all over KL and Selangor. Here, you can see temple-inspired structures surrounded by cherry blossom trees and imperial guardian lions.
