Despite facing hardships and adversities, some Malaysians have continued working hard just to achieve their dreams or merely to survive.
Now, a story of a Malaysian food delivery rider who lost one of his arms in a freak motorcycle accident has provided a much-needed source of inspiration for many Malaysians.
In an interview with mStar, Ahmad Nabil Rosli, revealed that he had lost his left arm in an accident which took place 5 years ago.
The 23-year-old said, “I accept what happened. Now, I’m getting used to wearing my prosthetic arm while doing delivery jobs.”
Nabil revealed that he chose to wear the prosthetic arm to “cover his imperfection” whilst he’s out there making a living.
“I don’t want people to sympathise with me. I want to stand on my own feet. Also, I want customers to feel comfortable with my presence.”
“I’m still fine with adults, but somehow, I wonder how would the kids react to my appearance…” he said.
Recalling an experience he had, Nabil said that once when he was rushing to deliver a customer’s order, he happened to forget to put his prosthetic arm on.
“When I arrived at the customer’s house that day, the child of the house owner (who came out to pick up the food) quickly ran into their house. Probably because they were scared because I only have one arm.”
Amassing quite a following on TikTok
Nabil shares his experiences and stories of what working as a food delivery rider with one arm looks like via his TikTok page.
His account has amassed quite a large following and currently has over 76,100 followers.
“In addition to doing food deliveries, I also have another ‘job’, which is supporting other people’s bundle business on TikTok,” Nabil said.
“I’m doing this job for free, without any payment.”
