Kota Kinabalu: With additional strong assistance from international governments, Sabah hopes to lead globally in a plastic-neutral effort toward a healthier and more sustainable future.
Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Sabah's Local Government and Housing Minister, is also optimistic that the effort will be strengthened now that Sabah's Solid Waste Management and Public Sanitisation Enactment is on the way.
For the record, the Ministry began drafting the Solid Waste Management and Public Sanitation Enactment in December 2020, with the goal of making Sabah's solid waste management and public sanitation systems more sustainable, integrated, efficient, and cost-effective.
“Sabah would be able to motivate local authorities in the enforcement, collection, and disposal of solid waste,” said Masidi, whose speech was read at the Special Sabah Plastic Neutral Education and Awareness Launch Dinner co-hosted by Blu Hope Sabah, here, Wednesday.
The latest to express a strong desire to work with Sabah on the plastic-neutral effort is French Ambassador to Malaysia Roland Galharague, who was also present at the gathering.
