TAWAU: A 59-year-old man was injured in a fire at Kg Kongsi 8 Lorong 1A that damaged two houses and a Mitsubishi Triton car, Sunday.
The man suffered injuries to his chest and abdomen while attempting to save himself, according to Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Julius John Stephen Jr.
He was treated by a team from the Emergency Medical Response Services before being taken to Tawau Hospital.
A total of 15 firefighters were dispatched to the location after a distress call was received at 2.30pm via MERS 999.
At 3.06pm, the team had the flames under control, and operations ended at 6.41pm.
