TAWAU: A four-door block of a pig farm workers’ house at Mile 16, Jalan Apas, here, was razed at 1.30am, Friday.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Julius John Stephen Jr. said a team of 12 officers and personnel rushed to the scene some 33km away after receiving an emergency call at 1.32am via MERS999.

They were accompanied by two fire engines, a tanker truck and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) led by Senior Officer (PBK II) Kasdi Latimin.

By the time the team arrived, Julius said, the non-permanent “kongsi” house was already 100 per cent burnt.

“They successfully controlled the fire from spreading at 2.17am before ending the operation at 4.49am,” he said.

No injuries or fatalities were reported and the cause of the fire and losses are still under investigation.
