Everton signing Donny van de Beek admits former Blue Johnny Heitinga had an influence on his choice.
The Manchester United midfielder signed for Everton on-loan to June on Monday.
He told evertontv: “When I went to the Ajax first team when I was 18 or 19 years old, John had come back at the end of his career, so we played together and after that he was a coach.
“We have had contact and, before I signed here, I spoke with him about the club and he was really positive. He enjoyed his time here.
“He said the fans are really emotional and they always stay behind the team. He enjoyed it here…the stadium, the atmosphere. He loved it.
“There have been a few Dutch players who have played here in the past. I've followed the club for a few years and I think I know Everton well.
“It is a big club – everyone knows this – with big players, a lot of history and amazing fans.
“The club has everything to be higher in the table."
