Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old man will know his fate on April 29 this year on a charge of committing sexual harassment against a six-year-old girl.
Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for Azwan Aliasan. The court also set April 8 for oral submissions of the case.
Azwan is accused of committing the offence by hugging and kissing her cheek while undressing her at 10.55am on July 6, 2020 by the roadside in Penampang. The offence, under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping on conviction.
The prosecution had called six witnesses during the hearing.
Azwan was ordered to enter his defence on Dec 23, 2021 after the court ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Azwan.
