Kota Kinabalu: Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee proposed that the Government and opposition form a committee to introduce Sabah IC to genuine Malaysians born in Sabah.
According to Yong, providing Sabah ICs to genuine Malaysians born in Sabah is a viable way to distinguish between locals and foreigners, while also preventing them from getting citizenship and other benefits that should be available to Sabahans.
