Kota Kinabalu: The State Government on Tuesday released entry guidelines for international travellers entering Sabah, which will take effect on April 1.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said pre-entry procedures will require travellers to have a negative RT-PCR test result taken two days before departure.
He said travellers must also download, register and activate the MySejahtera application and fill in the Traveller Declaration Form on the application, by clicking the “Traveller” icon, including vaccination information.
Non-Malaysian travellers will be required to purchase Covid-19 insurance, he added.
“Upon arrival in Sabah, travellers are required to undergo RTK-Antigen test done by trained healthcare personnel prior to immigration clearance at all Points of Entry (PoEs).
“Personal or pre-purchased RTK-saliva tests are not allowed,” he said in a statement.
Masidi said the fully vaccinated are permitted entry into Sabah, while the partially vaccinated and unvaccinated will be required to quarantine at home or at Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC).
The fully vaccinated will not need to undergo quarantine while the partially vaccinated and unvaccinated will have to quarantine for five days.
“Those with a positive RTK-Antigen Result (category one and two) may quarantine at home, at a quarantine hotel or at the PKRC, while those in category three to five will be hospitalised,” he added.
The quarantine period for those who tested positive is seven days for the fully vaccinated and 10 days for the partially vaccinated and unvaccinated.
The same conditions apply for transit passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) or Points of Entry (PoE) Malaysia.
It also applies to individuals with Covid-19 infection history six to 60 days prior to their departure.
“However, only those who tested negative for the RTK-Antigen test, done by a trained healthcare personnel prior to immigration clearance at the first Point of Entry (PoE) will be allowed to proceed with entry in Sabah,” said Masidi.
He added that children below six years old are exempted from the RT-PCR test prior to departure and the RTK-Antigen test done by the trained healthcare personnel upon arrival.
“Children and adolescents aged 17 and below are exempted from quarantine, despite vaccination status, unless positive upon arrival in Sabah,” said Masidi.
Sabah’s sporadic infections are declining slowly although it still remains high at 54.58 per cent, said Sabah’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“On Tuesday, only 12 districts recorded cases that were contributed mainly by sporadic infections,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Sabah’s cases shot up past the 200 mark with 251 cases on Tuesday from 194 the day earlier, while two deaths were recorded, one in Kota Kinabalu and Kudat.
“The increased caseload is due to a high number of districts recording an increase in cases compared to the day earlier.
“A total of 15 districts recorded an increase, while eight recorded a decrease. Except for Beluran and Sipitang that recorded double-digit increases, other districts recorded single-digit increases,” he explained.
He said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 64 cases, followed by Tuaran (23), Sandakan (18), Papar (16), Penampang (16), Keningau (14) and Beluran (13), while Telupid and Kalabakan did not record any new cases.
No new clusters were identified.
Masidi said the majority of cases were mild, with 244 out of 251 being category one and two infections, while two cases are in category three, four in category four and one in category five.
