Kota Kinabalu: Residents in several villages in Kadamaian are worried on the impact of a planned Nature Conservation Agreement (NCA) on fully protected rainforests in their area, according to its Assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
“The State Government signed the NCA Agreement last 28 October, for the purpose of carbon credit trading. Although the exact location of the 2 million hectares has yet to be announced, we have information that the said area is a fully-protected area or Class 1 Forest Reserve and that forest under this category falls under the jurisdiction of Sabah Parks,” he said.
