
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases fell below the 1,000 mark with 796 cases on Saturday, but sporadic infections still remain high at nearly 65 per cent.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the last time the State recorded a three-digit caseload was on Feb. 4.
“A total of 15 districts recorded a decrease in cases, with a few districts registering significant decreases, namely Kota Kinabalu (-179), Penampang (-77), Tenom (-25) and Tuaran (-24).
“Only eight districts recorded a rise in cases. Overall, only two districts recorded three-digit cases namely Kota Kinabalu (177) and Tuaran (102),” he said, Saturday.
Masidi said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 177 cases, followed by Papar (102), Penampang (61), Tuaran (57), Beaufort (45), Sandakan (39) and Tawau (38).
Two deaths were recorded in Beaufort while no new clusters were identified.
“Three clusters were declared closed of which two were education clusters, namely the Jalan Taman Beringin Cluster (Kota Marudu), Madai Dua Cluster (Kunak) and a community cluster which is the Kg Weston Cluster (Beaufort).
“There are 26 active clusters in Sabah to date,” Masidi added.
He said the majority of cases are mild, with 779 out of 796 being category one and two infections, which is 97.86 per cent.
“Three cases are in category three, 10 in category four and four in category five,” he added.
Some 1,763 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 1,023 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 8,631 individuals were vaccinated on March 11, of which 6,211 were adults while 144 were teenagers and 2,276 were children.
As of March 11, he said 2,403,526 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.85 per cent were adults, while 2,537,460 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.40 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that 331,827 teenagers have received their first dose, while 315,836 have completed both doses, which is 74.11 per cent of the teenage population.
A total of 75,821 children have received their first dose.
