Octogenarian killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident at Section 17, Petaling Jaya

PETALING JAYA – An 89-year-old woman died following a hit-and-run incident by an unidentified vehicle at Section 17, here, yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said initial investigation revealed the incident took place at 6.30am when the victim was walking on foot in the area.

“She succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at University Malaya Medical Centre,” he said in a statement.

Fakhruddin said further investigations were underway to find out what happened and to identify the cause of death. He urged witnesses of the incident to go to the nearest police station or contact the Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Navalan Ravindran at 014-2536820 to assist with the investigation.
