Tuaran: A man survived while his friend drowned while bathing in Sungai Kiulu, Kg Rugading, Kiulu, Sunday afternoon.
The 26-year-old drowning victim was found by villagers at about 4.30pm.
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said, his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.22 pm.
Ten personnel rushed to the location with one machine and one utility vehicle from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
“As soon as the fire team arrived, the two victims were found by the villagers but one of them was unconscious before being confirmed dead by the Tuaran hospital medical officer.
“Another friend of the victim, a man in his 20s, was rescued but complained of shortness of breath and was given initial treatment before being rushed to Tuaran hospital,” he said.
