Former AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini has offered some early advice to incoming owners Investcorp.
Investcorp is in advanced talks with Elliott Management to buy the Rossonero.
Ambrosini told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Among Elliott's merits is that of having chosen the right men at a managerial and technical level.
"Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have built a top team, Stefano Pioli has done the same by leading the group with a clear and always proactive game idea.
"It is difficult to think that whoever will take over the current ownership does not want to introduce some reference figure, but I think the starting point should be the confirmation of the current directors.
"If a more aggressive transfer market is waiting for me? Expanding the budget to widen the number of reinforcements is a solution. Having said that, no revolutions are needed: the base is excellent and needs to be reinforced by reinforcing the areas of the pitch where Milan have suffered the most. A right winger, a playmaker and a centre-forward."
