Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s daily new Covid-19 cases continued to dip, Monday, with 140 new infections detected, down 27 from Sunday’s 167 cases.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said the overall position in almost all districts is improving although fluctuations occur in the number of new cases every day.
On Monday, only four districts recorded double-digit cases, namely Kota Kinabalu (37), Tuaran (21), Tenom (13) and Penampang (12).
Seventeen districts recorded single-digit cases, with 16 of the districts recording cases of between one and five only.
Six districts – Kinabatangan, Nabawan, Keningau, Tongod, Kalabakan and Putatan – did not record cases in the past 24 hours.
Masidi said the percentage of sporadic infections, however, rose again on Monday to 55 per cent from 43 per cent on Sunday.
“As noted earlier, a high percentage of sporadic infections means that the risk of infection will also increase, especially in crowded places.
“The public places that we need to be careful of are the Ramadan bazaars and shopping malls.
“Many visitors will flock to these crowded places to shop,” he said, while reminding everyone to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
A total of 135 cases or 96.43 per cent of the 140 cases on Monday are in Category 1 and 2, four cases in Category 4 and one case in Category 5. No new cases were recorded in Category 3.
