Newcastle boss Eddie Howe says new contract talks are continuing with several players.

Both Sean Longstaff and Paul Dummett have been in talks with Newcastle for some time on a contract extension.

Longstaff's deal with United expires this summer and he remains on a contract handed to him during the Rafa Benitez era. Howe has stated on the record that he would like both to stay since taking over as boss. Fabian Schar is another that is yet to agree terms.

Howe said on Friday: "We're in discussions with a couple of players that we want to stay.

"We want to try to keep the main group together because as I say the mentality and spirit of the group is good and I wouldn't want to break that up."
