Sabah will abide by federal SOPs for border reopening: Masidi

KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah government will abide by the standard operating procedures issued by the federal government for the reopening of borders, said the state’s Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

He said in his statement that detailed public guidelines involving the local authorities will be issued from time to time.

He added that the decision was made by the state Disaster Management Committee.

The #reopeningsafely procedures were issued by the federal Health Ministry in part of the country’s transition to the endemic phase.

Because of contradictory instructions by the state and federal in the past, Sabahans have maintained that they will only adhere to guidelines issued by the state government.

Meanwhile, Masidi said the state’s daily Covid-19 caseload is declining, which he attributed to a higher level of compliance with the health SOPs.

Sabah recorded 167 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 43.71% are sporadic infections.

He said lower risk of infection and fewer cases can be expected. – The Vibes, April 3, 2022
