TAWAU: Police arrested a 35-year-old foreigner, suspected of threatening his neighbour with a “bakakuk” (homemade shotgun) in Kg Sungai Imam, around 3.10pm, on Monday,

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect was picked up from a house in the village after the 45-year-old victim lodged a report.

He said the incident occurred because the suspect was enraged after being reprimanded by his neighbour.

“The suspect acted recklessly and threatened the victim with a bakakuk,” he said.

He said the suspect attempted to flee when a police team raided the house but was arrested following a scuffle.

“A bakakuk and other equipment were also discovered in the suspect’s house,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code, Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
