Fraud: E-hailing driver charged

Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old e-hailing driver was charged at the Magistrate’s Court, Wednesday, with two counts of fraud.

Ho Chau Loon, who appeared before Magistrates Lovely Natasha Charles and Stephanie Sherron Abbie, pleaded not guilty to both charges.

On the first count, Ho was accused of using Nurdiana Abdullah’s Public Bank ATM card without her permission to make a payment of RM24.20 at 99 Speedmart, Bornion Luyang at 7.44pm on May 2, this year.

Ho, on the second count, allegedly used the same ATM card to make payment of RM50 at 6.45pm on May 3 at the Petron Ulam South station, Jalan Lintas.

Each charge framed under Section 4(1)(a) of the Computer Crimes Act 1997 is punishable under Section 4(3) of the same Act which provides for a fine of up to RM150,000 or jail of up to 10 years or both, on conviction.

The court fixed June 2 for pre-trial case management.

Ho was released on a bail of RM1,500 in one surety and RM2,000 in two sureties on the first and second count, respectively.
