Duo trapped in van after Keningau crash

KENINGAU: The driver and passenger of a van were injured when the vehicle they were in collided with an empty truck in a road accident at Bakiau roundabout, Keningau-Tenom road, here, Friday.

Keningau Zone Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan, said the District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 12.48pm and a total of 12 firefighters led by Operations Officer, Norhasrita Manan, rushed to the location with machinery.

According to him, the lorry driver was not injured.

He said two policemen and two officers from the Ministry of Health were also at the scene.

“A report from the Head of Operations said two men, aged 50 and 59, were trapped in the van and extricated by the rescue team,” he said.

Yuszaimi said the two victims were then sent to Keningau hospital by EMRS and ambulance for further treatment and the operation ended at 1.56pm.
