Preston are keen to re-sign Aston Villa prospect Cameron Archer.

Archer has been linked with a possible return to Preston North End next season, says the Birmingham Mail.

The young striker bagged four goals in two League Cup games and made three league appearances for Villa before heading to Preston on loan in January. Archer, 20, became a fan favourite at Deepdale, where he scored seven goals in 20 games.

The hotshot's performances across the campaign have prompted enthusiasm among the Villa faithful about his potential in a Villa shirt. Speaking earlier this month, Steven Gerrard confirmed that all young players returning from loan spells can expect to be given opportunities in pre-season and will be analysed by his coaching staff.
