River Plate are making a sensational move for Luis Suarez.
The Uruguay striker becomes a free agent when his contract with Atletico Madrid expires this month.
River want Suarez as a replacement for Julian Alvarez, who is moving to Manchester City this summer.
With the backing of coach Marcelo Gallardo, River president Jorge Brito and technical chief Enzo Francescoli are in talks with Suarez about a late career move to Argentina.
Local reporter Gustavo Yarroch confirmed: “River is willing to make a significant financial effort so that Luis Suárez replaces Julián Alvarez.
"It is the dream of Gallardo and the leadership. There were already talks with the Uruguayan. It is difficult but Suárez did not close the door at all."
