Arsenal have asked Olympique Marseille about a price for Florian Thauvin.
La Provence says the Gunners made their approach to OM last week for the midfielder.
It's been suggested Arsenal see Thauvin as an alternative to Lille star Nicolas Pepe.
The Gunners are now in advanced talks for Pepe, who can play as a striker and on the flank.
Thauvin has rebuilt his career after a difficult 12 months with Newcastle United three years ago.
