Dejan Lovren's wages have proved a stumbling block in his move to Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool are willing to sell the Croatian after he fell down Jurgen Klopp's centre-back pecking order last season.
Roma were keen on signing Lovren but Leverkusen are now favourites for his signature.
The Bundesliga club are prepared to pay 2.75m loan fee to sign the 30-year-old.
