A local court today granted bail to AAP MLA from Sanaur, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, in an illegal mining case registered at the Julkan police station. However, the MLA will remain in jail as he faces charges in a separate FIR related to sexual harassment.

In April 2026, the Patiala police sought his arrest in an old illegal mining case, following which the MLA surrendered in court. Pathanmajra was already lodged in Bathinda jail in the sexual harassment case and was produced in court, where he surrendered in the mining case registered at the Julkan police station. The police formally arrested him in that case but did not seek his police remand.

Pathanmajra had been on the run after making remarks against senior Delhi-based AAP leaders last year. Booked in a rape case, the MLA evaded a Patiala police team and fled his relative’s house in Karnal, Haryana, when the police reached there to arrest him on September 2, 2025.

The Patiala police later arrested Pathanmajra near Gwalior in March following credible technical leads. He has remained in jail since, facing two separate cases. He was granted bail today in the illegal mining case.

The case at the Civil Lines police station was registered against him on charges of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a Zirakpur-based woman.
