Ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you today, humbled and overwhelmed. This moment feels a bit surreal—not just because of the stage lights, or the applause, but because of the journey that led me here. A journey that started not in the spotlight, but in the quiet corners of my home during the dark and uncertain days of the pandemic.
When I began writing, it was never with the thought of awards or recognition. It was my wife who nudged me—actually, more like gently insisted—that I give writing a try. She saw something in me that I hadn’t yet recognised in myself. And just like the Roman generals of old, who had servants reminding them, ‘You are not the greatest,’ my wife has been that voice for me, reminding me to stay grounded, even as I reach new heights.
But here I am tonight, holding not just one award, but four. I’ve been honoured with the Best Creator Award, the Most Outstanding Creator Award, the Best Performing Video Creator Award, and the Award for Achieving 1,000,000 Viewers. To say I’m grateful would be an understatement.
While these accolades are deeply appreciated, I know they are not just a reflection of my work alone. They represent the belief and support of many—my wife, who was my first critic and cheerleader; my family, who have tolerated my late-night ramblings and rewrites; and the editors at Newswav, who gave me a platform to share my voice with the world.
I accept these awards not as a seasoned conqueror, but as someone who is still learning, still growing, still striving to get better. I also accept them with the full knowledge that there are many others in this room just as deserving, if not more so. This moment isn’t just mine—it belongs to all of us who believe in the power of words, in the impact of stories, and in the idea that we can make a difference, one column, one video, one story at a time.
