ACEN Corp.’s retail electricity supply unit, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), has entered into a retail electricity supply agreement with ACS Manufacturing Corp.
In a disclosure on Thursday, the Ayala-led energy company said that under the agreement, ACEN RES will power ACS Manufacturing’s two key facilities in Laguna with 100-percent renewable energy from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind, and geothermal assets.
Under the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) mechanisms, qualified power consumers are allowed to choose their own supplier and source cleaner energy.
By switching to renewables, ACS Manufacturing will avoid the equivalent of an estimated 4,270 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually — equivalent to the carbon absorbed by over 193,000 trees.
“We are proud to support ACS Manufacturing in this significant step of their sustainability journey,” said Tony Valdez, senior vice president for market transformation and retail at ACEN.
ACS Manufacturing CEO Mai Supetran, for his part, said the switch to renewable energy for their plants in Laguna signifies a strategic move in aligning their manufacturing process as a commitment to the environment.
“We see this as a way to enhance our operational efficiency while tangibly reducing our carbon footprint,” she said.
ACEN RES has also awarded ACS its Powered by Renewable Energy badge, honoring the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
The badge serves as a distinction shared by hundreds of ACEN RES-powered facilities across the country.

ACEN RES’ partnership with ACS Manufacturing highlights the growing trend among Philippine manufacturers to integrate sustainable energy procurement into their long-term business strategies.
ACEN shares on Thursday shed P0.02, or 0.78 percent, to close at P2.56 each.
